Hello!
We hope that you are doing well. Despite having a smaller workshop schedule this year we have remained busy. It’s amazing how all that stuff you let go around the house when you were traveling has a way of catching up with you.
We are looking forward to a day-long workshop that we will be presenting for the Photographic Society of Chattanooga on June 26. We will be focusing more on making creative images within our cameras with less emphasis on post processing. We still have a few spaces left for Iceland and Morocco. Please let us know if you would like more information on those trips.
We are also excited to be involved with RiverRocks Festival, a new 10-day event being held in Chattanooga this October. As you can see below, if you enjoy photographing or participating in outdoor events, there will be a lot of fun opportunities.
We hope that you have an enjoyable summer with lots of photography whether on a great trip somewhere or just around home.
Take care,
Tom and Pat
RiverRocks Festival in Chattanooga
The RiverRocks festival is a new happening that will celebrate Chattanooga’s natural resources and active life style. The festival takes place October 1-10. There are over 30 events scheduled for the first weekend alone and dozens more the following week. In addition to 20 hot air balloons flying and glowing, there will be paddling, hiking, rock climbing, trail running, biking and more. We will be presenting two photography workshops for the Tennessee Aquarium during the week. There are also a number of other events that just happen to be going on in Chattanooga as well.
Photography in North Florida and a Lesson Learned
Yep, we went back down to Florida again—this time to Perdido Key, near Pensacola. Sadly, there was a lot of activity as people were trying to prepare for oil should it come their way. There actually is quite a bit to photograph in this area. The Blue Angels practice on most Tuesday and Wednesday mornings from March through November (you can check their schedule online). There is a viewing area set up at the Naval Air Station and if you get there about 45 minutes ahead of time you can set up way down to the right side and have a front row photography seat. While we’ve enjoyed the air shows we’ve attended, this was much less crowded, the Blue Angels are the only event so there’s not a lot of waiting around, and there are volunteers working who will alert you to which directions the planes will be coming from. It was great fun.
While there you also will want to plan to spend some time in the National Naval Aviation Museum, which has a wonderful collection of airplanes. There is also a nice lighthouse close to the museum. And the cost is perfect—it’s all |
